About True North Yoga
True North's mission is to guide folks along their personal journeys, facilitating a connection to Self and to Nature. True North was founded with the knowledge that the journey inward can be just as adventurous as any whitewater paddle or summit push.
About Instructor/Guide Donna Kohut
A self-described itinerant intellectual river goddess, Donna Kohut has been working in the outdoor industry since 2005 when she discovered paddling, bought a kayak, and moved into her van. Since that fateful summer, she has paddled up and down the East Coast, dabbled in Pacific Northwest whitewater, built trails in Yosemite National Park, and protected the stark beauty of the Southwest as a conservation technician and environmental educator. Her passion for yoga began years before, while suffering from depression as a teen. A simple, regular, and self-guided practice eased her anxiety, brightened her mood, and brought her back to life. Yoga continues to support Donna's emotional health, constantly renews her sense of play, and keeps her hips and shoulders open during the whitewater season. While not wed to any particular school or style, she is certified through the Kripalu 200-hour YTT. She believes that a healthy yoga practice should create a balance between exploring one's edge and teaching one self-compassion.
"Both yoga and paddling connect me to the present moment, in which there is joy, safety, and peace. True North Yoga strives to give the opportunity for that connection to others."
